Creed's story speaks clearly of a band that never wanted to waste time. Scott Stapp and Mark Tremonti formed the band in Seattle in Florida while still echoing the funeral march that Kurt Cobain dismissed, they simply had to show just a devastating to win a stamp envoys coming trail following them to close their first record and followed them for something: his first album, My Own Prison, has sold over 6 million copies in the United States.
With just three albums on the back, each selling in a week what any artist today aims to sell in two or three years, and after the release of their Greatest Hits, the band disappeared in 2004, the rates had simply erased. From there, the roads between Scott Stapp and the rest of the band diverged, the singer starred in several substance abuse scandals, sex tapes and even suicide attempts while the rest of his teammates were reinserted forming another band, Alter Bridge . After getting fit again with his solo project, Stapp met his old band back in 2009 taking over the open end and even released his autobiography. A few days after his first show in Argentina (Thursday 29 at the Malvinas Argentinas), Scott Stapp, Creed leader, speaks of this band and their future projects.
What is the show that are occurring in South America? What we will find?
Let's play songs from all our albums. Let's do what we do best, you never saw the band live and we want to enjoy the experience. As a band, we are equally excited to play there. Everyone I met Argentine hit it. I know you are very passionate fans. The very present because we are in touch with them through social networks or emails that we receive, so we hope that the show is an impressive rock event.
The name of his latest album, Full Circle, seems to take over the abrupt ending that had the band in 2004. What do you mean by that allusion to feel complete: the band's personal life or meeting?
talks about all these things. I think it was the best definition of what was happening with the band. Our music always crossed in every aspect of our lives. In my case, my family and the things I have experienced are what inspired me and of course with the band again inspired us mutual.
But the "full circle" does not mean something is closing here: are preparing new material?
Thus, we started writing in October last year and we are engaged with the direction it is taking. It has some sonic stuff as had in Weathered but approached from a new place because of all the experience that we gained over the years.
How does it feel to be with the rest of the band again? Were you able to solve the problems of the past?
's fantastic and exciting. All the time new things happen. We had a chance to get back in touch with fans, give a lot of concerts. We are like brothers, we resolve things as if we were a family, as in real life, but once I got on stage and played these songs we forgot any problems.
According to your own words, you are working on a new solo album which is divided into two concepts: love and lust. Which one do you feel closest today?
At this point in my life I'll definitely love. The album is a picture of what I was, who I am and where I'm going. So there are two sides, I used the word "lust" (lust, greed) to represent evil, the desire to go behind alcohol, drugs, parties and other wrong things that happened in my life almost ends up killing me. It's something I feel I should share it because there may be many people who are going through the same. Out of all that experience made me realize what love means.
What will happen to Creed once they finish this tour?
According to what they told me, the guys are going to re-record with Alter Bridge. I'll do the things I told you and regards Creed ... we will continue to live. When the time is right and they're ready, we'll see what happens.
